About this university

When UEA was established back in 1963, we had teaching space for around 1,200 students.

Today, we’re home to over 17,000 students.

Our Norwich campus gives high quality academic, social and cultural facilities to undergraduate and postgraduate students from around the world.

Located near to the centre of Norwich, we’re England’s first UNESCO City of Literature. We’re also based on the Norwich Research Park, a world-leading centre for environment, health and plant science research. It’s also home to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Our richly diverse research base informs our outstanding teaching. Our world-leading academics are connected with society, government and industry alike.

Scholarships and funding:

Scholarships are usually awarded based on a student’s academic excellence, and in the form of a tuition fee reduction. The amount awarded may vary. Some require a separate application form to be completed for consideration, whereas others automatically consider applicants who have already been offered a place on their course.

International students are usually guaranteed accommodation unless they have studied with us before. Undergraduate students can stay in university accommodation for the first year of their course and can apply to the accommodation office for subsequent years. Postgraduates can also stay in university accommodation for the first year of their course (the typical length of most Masters courses) The campus was designed so that everything you need for living and studying is no more than a few minutes away. The UEA campus is a mini city and home to a unique, multi-cultural community that enjoys and contributes to a lively social and cultural scene. We stage live music events, club nights, film screenings and much, much more.
